Well, maybe not for a living. When I heard the announcement by the Silicon Valley Insider this morning that Carl Icahn was going to be launching his blog today I was prepared for the worst. I assumed there would be attack upon attack thrown at Yahoo!, Jerry Yang and the crew. I’ve never been a fan of Icahn, however I took appreciate his approach with his blog. As opposed to being an accusatory ranting destination, he decided to take the informative route. With articles such as:
Absurdity of Corporate Board Meetings
About CEOs – Anti Darwinian Metaphor – Survival of the Unfittest
Just to name a few, it appears that Icahn is positioning himself as an expert in the corporate strategy world. And he is re-positioning himself as the White Knight for investors. He has been much maligned over the past decade due to his aggressive attacks on CEO and long standing boards, so this was an important step if he wants to be viewed as a hero as opposed to a villian.
One thing I thought was funny though, we his first post that “thanked” everyone for their comments. I’m sure he was speaking to a select number of editors and readers who have been reviewing his blogs since it appears he has been privately blogging since June 12th, however no actual comments have ever been approved, so either he needs to learn how to use his blog software or hold off on the thanks until there is proof of that they exist.
Maybe Jerry Yang should take some notes from his arch nemesis.
